I’m personally very pleased with my custom dolls, just in case the photo overload hasn’t made that obvious. Today, though, I thought I’d give a shout to dolls that, even without a repaint, are both stunning and graceful.
The first doll I’m going to mention is the Audrey Hepburn Barbie. There are several versions of this doll; Breakfast at Tiffany’s is an iconic look, Roman Holiday is fun, but the Sabrina is by far my favorite:
Her outfit is divine and the earrings are spot on; Eve would need to wear this dress for at least one night. While the ensemble is impressive, it’s really the detailed features of her face that captivate me. I love her delicate lashes, that hint of a smile, and those wonderfully shaped eyebrows.
Why can’t all Barbie dolls look this nice?
Next up is the Grace Kelly doll. She also has several incarnations; Rear Window, The Romance, The Bride, which I believe was modeled on her actual wedding gown, and, my personal favorite, To Catch a Thief:
This blue gown is, like the woman who inspired the doll, elegant. Yes, again this is a dress I can fantasize about having Eve wear someday, but really it’s the doll herself that I find appealing.
She has beautiful features, stunning blue eyes, and again the perfectly-shaped eyebrows. What’s not to love?
There are also Marilyn Monroe and Elizabeth Taylor Barbies. So many dolls, so little storage and display space.
By the by, to my fellow cinephiles, if you like older films I highly recommend “Rear Window”, “Sabrina”, and “To Catch a Thief”
