Capsule Wardrobe: Outfit 29 & 30 – Spring

These are the final two looks of the ten-piece, thirty-outfit capsule wardrobe challenge I gave myself last month.  Granted, I didn’t manage my ambitious, thirty-day goal due to real life getting crazy, but better late than never, right?  Technically, there are more than ten additional looks that could be put together from the capsule wardrobe; but I challenged myself to thirty, and I’m looking forward to a bit more freedom that, at this point, I feel I can fully appreciate.

If you haven’t tried a capsule wardrobe, I highly recommend it.  Before I started this project I found myself looking at my wardrobe and actually saying to myself, “I have nothing to wear”, which is entirely false.  I was thinking much too far in the box, worried about showing off new things, and I just didn’t feel inspired.  I know how cliché it sounds, but it’s true; this challenge has opened my eyes and altered my perception.  I’m absolutely certain I haven’t come close to experiencing the full potential of the contents of my wardrobe and, after today, I’m looking forward to diving back in.

The next time I do a capsule wardrobe—and there will be a next time, this was too much fun not to do again—I’m not going to put limitations on my accessories, though; I missed my earrings far too much.  As for the two looks rounding out this particular challenge, they embody the raison d’être of not only the capsule wardrobe, but my entire wardrobe: to be functional, comfortable, and stylish—ideally in equal parts.

I hope you enjoyed checking out all the looks from this challenge.  If you missed any of them, simply click the corresponding picture below, or click here for a full list.

  • Interesting concept. I love the way you used all your “pieces,” one accentuating the other; also including a few pieces of jewelry as well. Yes, I do miss the earrings in your looks, but understand using dolls would make poking their ears a bit problematic. Still super creative!!!

I have lots of what I like to call “pieces” in my closet also. Some may not get worn for years, but when I do pull them all together…wow…do they ever work!
