The blazer: season-less, timeless and chic. I’ve been looking for one since last autumn; considering they’re a staple in just about everyone’s wardrobe, you’d think they’d be easy to find for, well, everyone. I know I did.
I was wrong.
Now, it’s not like there aren’t options for blazers, but not quite the one I was looking for. Though the Timm Gunn outfit (above and to the left) is incredibly stylish and certainly turned my head.
I wasn’t after anything fancy, mind you, I just wanted a black, fitted blazer, full-length sleeves, with no pink lining. That sounds reasonable enough, doesn’t it? Trust me when I say that they’re tougher to find than you’d think; if there were a unicorn of clothing items, this combination might just be it.
When I finally decided to give up my mythical quest of locating one, I contacted Nina, the seamstress behind Levitation Fashion. You can see other examples of her creations here, here, and here—and that’s not all I have from her. In fact, the jeans in this very post and one of the bracelets are from her as well. What can I say? If it’s not broken, don’t fix it; I know I’ll get a quality item at an affordable price.
Today, despite going the lazy sartorial route with a pair of jeans and a tee-shirt, the end result is still a put-together, stylish look. For those that don’t want to wear heels, this would work very nicely with flats as well.
Naturally, once I’d seen how well it fit, and felt the softness of the fabric, I had to order another one in a khaki, olive green.
