Dress for the Job You Want!

Hello again, dear readers, I’m still alive.  This summer has been eventful and just flown by for me.  I can’t believe it’s already August, where did July go?

Alive and job hunting.  I can’t remember where I first heard the phrase “Dress for the job you want”, but it stuck with me.  Today, I’ve got a follow-up interview with a new(ish) company that’s looking for an office manager; despite my tendency to choke during interviews, I guess I did something right, or they wouldn’t want a follow up…right?

Not that I don’t like my current job.  I enjoy it, I’m comfortable, and my boss is cool—he even gave me glowing recommendations—but I really could use a salary boost and that’s not something I can reasonably expect working retail, even full time.  When my income was combined with Cole’s, we had a pretty decent amount to work with; I knew he made the lions share, but ouch.  My hard-earned paycheck, even now that I’m full-time, doesn’t stretch far at all after rent in the city.

You might have noticed my surroundings have changed.  After our lease expired, I started renting a room from an older couple that has a spare.  Apparently, lots of students do this, though with the amount of money their given, I’m not sure how they manage if they’re not working.  If I’d remained in a part-time position, I couldn’t even afford this room if I wanted to eat.

I admit, I’m having a tough time adjusting to only having one refuge for privacy, the bedroom.  But, it’s better than crashing on couches and the couple I’m renting from adore Krull, so he has company while I’m out.

Fingers crossed today goes well, wish me luck.

(As to the writer behind this post, much like my doll, I’m actively re-entering the job market.  Of course, Eve will find a new position no problem, me, on the other hand, let’s hope it goes smoothly.  I’ve just barely finished up my first round of physical therapy sessions, huff puff, post-surgery has been challenging to say the least.)
