kArEn "Logic"

kArEn "Logic"

Dear kArEn,

A few days ago, in a doll group you hurled this gem out into the void:

“You can’t body shame a doll, it’s not a living thing.”

I’m going to apply this “logic” to another life situation. How about walking up to people and telling them the outfit they’re wearing is ugly?  Still acceptable?  I mean, the outfit isn’t sentient, right?  So, this behavior shouldn’t be offensive, right?

In reality, if I did this, I would’ve just insulted someone’s taste in something, because it doesn’t match my personal aesthetic sensibility. Whether it’s a Barbie doll, an outfit, or any other thing they’ve spent money on, it was worth it to them. It’s insulting their taste, and, in the end, it’s still a fucking insult.

“I prefer Silkstone Barbie” or “This doll isn’t my thing” are both acceptable replies. Not everyone likes the same thing. That’s all well and good, and both of these statements get the point across just fine. Kudos.

“Your doll is fat and fugly!” (yep, I’ve seen this comment in doll groups), is rude as shit, and it’s sad to me that anyone has to have this broken down like in so many different ways. Just how far up their asses are their heads to not grasp this concept? Or maybe it’s just not giving a shit, in which case, don’t be that bitch, kAreN.

See ya next time.
