If you’ve read my “About the Blog” page, you already know why this blog exists to begin with. This page is to introduce you to my muse, the first re-painted, one-of-a-kind Barbie I ever purchased: Eve.

Isn't she lovely?

When I’d made the decision to order a doll, I contacted several artists, but the one that truly impressed me was Betty, the artist behind All the Little Dolls. I peppered this poor woman with questions and example photos as I had a very specific look in mind.

Because she is the expert, I left it in her hands which doll she felt would give me the best result; she chose an Asian made-to-move Barbie for the combination of beautiful black hair and fair skin. Then, through what I can only imagine is some sort of magic spell involving watercolors, she brilliantly created Eve’s lifelike appearance.

Throughout the creative process, Betty sent me progress pictures and updates. By the time the package arrived, I felt like a kid at Christmas. After completely shredding the shipping box and getting my first look at Eve, she sparked my imagination in a way that I never anticipated, re-igniting my passion for Barbie and her play-scale world.

She’s a gorgeous doll and, over time she’s managed to collect an ample wardrobe – she has great taste, if I do say so myself. I realized, as I set her up for photos, posing her just so, that I wanted to share her with the world. Why not a blog?

The last thing I needed for the blog? A name. Mary Poppins from the Disney film of the same name (1964) famously described herself as “Mary Poppins: Practically perfect in every way.” A little on the narcissistic side, sure, but it was absolutely charming. And thus, “Plastically Perfect” was born. The rest, as they say, is history.

I was, and still am, hopeful that there are folks out there who might appreciate my particular brand of strange. If not, at least I’m having fun.
