Muscular Barbie

Muscular Barbie

Okay, I know I spend a lot of time on here dragging Mattel for their questionable decisions — the articulation downgrades, the pixel-face, the EU distribution nightmare that shall not be re-litigated today — so when they do something genuinely exciting, I want to be equally loud about it.

(Images in this post are promotional images, I don't have this doll in hand yet and won't until later this year!)

Meet the Ilona Maher Barbie, coming Fall 2026, and she's introducing an entirely new body sculpt. Muscular torso, defined muscles, sculpted core, and a made to move body with 22 points of articulation. An athletic body that actually looks athletic and actually moves like one.

I'm here for it. I am completely, unambiguously here for it!

We've had various buff Kens for ages, bless them, and even a more articulated buff Ken (#18 Signature line). It's frankly well past time his female counterpart showed up. Yes, we technically had a "heroic" build female doll, but let's be honest, she read more as "I do pilates" Barbie than being a direct counterpart to “buff Ken”. Ilona Maher, Olympic rugby player and certified force of nature, seems like exactly the right person to usher in this muscular, badass made to move body.

You know me, I crave variety. Petite, tall, curvy, made to move, the AT202 Worldbox body, I want them all, I want the options, I want Mattel to keep expanding what a Barbie body can look like.

So…how about a curvy made to move Ken? Until then, this ones a win.

Are you as excited as I am for this doll?
