Introducing: Brego!

This is Brego. Brego was originally an "Our Generation Andalusian Hair Play Foal", like Socks. I still stand by the fact that I think they're a much better riding option, size-wise at least, than regular Barbie horses. You can find the drama of the repaint here, and the trauma that was getting his hair dyed black here. For a refresher, here's his before and after.

Today I thought I'd go out and get some pictures of Moira and Brego in the sunshine. It's nice here, and there's a fairly brief window of spring and summer before autumn descends again. Finding a moment when my hubby is working from home, so I can leave the dogs with him, makes it even more challenging to take advantage.

Unfortunately, the world is still not entirely comfortable with doll photographers and hobbyists.

Today I made my way to a park area, but it was far too crowded (not unusual when it’s nice out), so I located a small grassy area not too far away, near(ish) to a bike lane. I was out of the way, minding my own business, when two women walked past and one said "what a fucking weirdo" and giggled. Peaked in high school energy in your 30’s? Ladies…that’s so cringe.

I was tempted to tell them to fuck off, but let my face do the talking instead. When they looked back over their shoulder, the giggling stopped and they hurried on. Hopefully next time they'll keep their rudeness inside that empty space between their ears.

Seriously, don't let assholes win. Don't pack up your doll and go home. Finish your shoot. The natural light on a clear day is gorgeous, and Moira, Brego, and all the other dolls out there that we love absolutely deserve their moment in the sun.
