Capsule Wardrobe # 1 - 3

Willow and Anne both felt I should be the one to pick their outfits for the entirety of this challenge, but I wanted them to pick at least one look that was their genuine aesthetic before putting my own spin on things.  They agreed, only after I agreed to let them pick my outfit, but we’ll get to that later.  First, to my dear friends, the volunteer victi…err, I mean models, for this project.

Outfit One – worn by the delightful Willow:

Willow went for a sophisticated, polished look with her outfit and I think she looks fantastic.  Because she’d chosen the houndstooth slacks for the capsule, she felt it was only right to put together an outfit revolving around them.  She opted for classic pearls, reliable black pumps, and decided to carry the every-day bag.  She completed her look by pulling her golden locks back into a loose ponytail.  I could easily see this as a date night look or, if pulled up to cover the shoulders, appropriate for the office.

Because she’s a bit slimmer around the waist than yours truly, we had to tighten the belt a bit.  But the slouchy fit to the blouse felt natural, and she said it was comfortable, so it worked out well.

When asked why she chose this look: “It’s timeless.”  I couldn’t agree more.

Outfit Two, worn by the lovely Anne:

Anne opted for a fresh, bohemian look with her outfit, and looks beautiful.  She had chosen the patterned, strapless maxi for the capsule and felt like it was an outfit in and of itself.  She wore a silver chain necklace, black flat shoes (not visible, due to the length of the dress), and decided to carry the fringed bag.  This is a very fun look, I could easily see it being worn on a warm, sunny beach; it makes me think of vacation.

She decided to add a fuchsia scarf, used here as a shawl, for a pop of color.

When asked why she chose this look: “It’s so comfortable and I love, love, love the colors!”  She looks enchanting.

Outfit Three, worn by yours truly:

Lastly, yours truly.  My lovely volunteers put me in this cute, pencil skirt and a green blouse, with gold accessories.  They chose the burgundy, structured bag to add a bit of contrast to the overall look.  My pearl heels were a nice touch, and they kept my hair down for a more casual feel.

When asked why they chose this look, they said it was a lot of compromise, with little pieces of both of them.  That’s terribly “aww” worthy, and I feel fortunate to have such great friends.  Thank you, ladies.

Because we were all dressed up, we decided we had somewhere to go, and got lunch at Gretta’s Cafe.  Lots of carbs, and it was absolutely delicious.
